PERRY’S HEROES >> Dark Ages >> Scenics
It’s been a long time that I have the project to work on a decent set of river. I wanted first to do it myself in plastic card with foam and cork banks but I never achieved it. Finally I found the river sets from ArmorCast and I ordered a 3" one.
The river set is in resin with a gentle stream and detailed rocky banks (with pieces of vegetation). The banks could be let as they are if you want a mountain stream or desert wash.
After washing the river pieces in soapy water, I painted the whole set in dark brown. Then the banks are painted with a earth layer then dry brush with Khaki. I drybrushed the river with a sienna brown then ochre and finally a sand color. Then I applied a magic wash with a dark blue/green color and let the whole set dry
Then I flocked the banks with static grass.
I waited for night, removed the grass and I carefully drybrushed a light blue layer on the waves of the stream.
Finally, I varnished the stream with a glossy one. The magic wash already give a quite glossy stream but I want more protection for the paint.
And some pictures in action.
The whole set in the french countryside with some carolingian knights. I had to cut one of the pieces in order to put my bridge ( an old hovels ? one). I did this before painting the piece.
