PERRY’S HEROES >> World War I >> History
During my holidays, I visited Cerny en Laonnois and the Chemin des Dames.
Monument dedicated to the 38e Division d’Infanterie
The french military cemetery mixing christian crosses and muslim tomb stones (of the Senegalese tirailleurs).
The Chemin des Dames (towards Soisson)
The Chemin des Dames (towards Craonne)
The Chemin des Dames and Cerny en Laonnois from the North, hills above Neuville.

The small church of Neuville, north of the Chemin des Dames.
A 18th century map of the area. The village of Cerny is on the north slope of the Chemin des Dames ridge. It has been destroyed, only the cemetery remains today, the new village is along the road, above the former one.
There is no wood along the road, so the countryside that we see nowadays is rather similar to the ones that existed a hundred years ago.
