West Front - August’44 - Let’s get at the Bastards (4)

Here is the fourth after action report of a demo game with the scenario "Let’s get at the Bastards" from the supplement Cymru am Byth of the Too Fat Lardies.

On the 9th of August, 1944, northeast of Vire in the bocage, the Welsh Guards supported by tanks of the Scots Guards have to capture a group of buildings on the heights named Le Haut-Perrier. The position is held by elements of the 9. SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen.

A PzIV-H opens fire and hit a Churchill

The british units reach the sunken road

The british left wing and centre attack the hamlet

A Churchill is destroyed

A PzIV-H is hit and the crew bailed out

A StuG III-G is destroyed near the barn

The british Churchill reach the last line of hedgerows

A second StuG III-G is destroyed

Another Churchill is destroyed

And another one... Hazardous crossing !

Again... this time by an assault of a german squad hidden in the barn

The germans try to fall back

Result : a Major Victory for the British side. They controled the farms and they were in pretty good shape.
