Here is Andrew (André) de Chauvigny, Lord of Déols (near Châteauroux, in Berry) and Charenton (border of Berry and Bourbonnais) with the knight of Naillac and the men-at-arms. Andrew de Chauvigny was a knight loyal to Richard I of England. He went to the 3rd crusade with him. In 1189, the king married him to Lady Denise de Déols ( the last heir of the Princes of Déols, a very important family in the 12th century). He also became the Lord of Charenton and Château-meillant.

After the death of Richard Lionheart, Andrew decided to follow Arthur, duke of Brittany ( Geoffrey’s posthumous son) instead of John Lackland. Andrew fought with the forces of Duke Arthur against John of England during the Battle of Mirebeau in 1202. He was captured along with Arthur and most of the Poitevin and Breton nobility. He was sent to Rouen and may have died here (the doom of many of John’s prisoners). His son William (Guillaume) inherited the title.

The figures are from Curteys Miniatures.
