Here are Count Guy d’Auvergne, his brother-in-law Albert de la Tour du Pin and his retinue. Guy d’Auvergne was allied to the english kings like Richard the Lion Heart for it gave him more freedom to plunder.

His brother, Robert was the bishop of Clermont and prefered the french king Philippe II. After the pope Innocent III declared the Albigensian Crusade, count Guy d’Auvergne, with the archbishop of Bordeaux, the bishops of Limoges, Cahors and Agen were the first to raid against the heretics in may 1209. They attacked the Quercy, capturing several towns like Puylaroque, Gontaud and Tonneins but they failed to capture the fortress of Casseneuil.

In 1210, count Guy d’Auvergne plundered the Abbaye of Mozac and captured his own brother Robert. It gave an excellent opportunity to the french king to react. Philippe II sent Guy de Dampierre, lord of Bourbon and Lambert Cadoc, his loyal mercenary captain to seize the lands of the count. The conquest ended in december 1213 with the capture of the Castle of Tournoël.

The figures are from Curteys Miniatures.
