Here is an after action report of a feudal skirmish during the 13th century. The scenario is part of a siege related campaign opposing the count of Auvergne and the king of France’s forces, Guy de Dampierre, Lord of Bourbon and Lambert Cadoc a mercenary captain. In this scenario, the french party attacks the last supplies train before it reaches the castle.
The vanguard of the french troops led by Cadoc’s mercenaries enters the village
while the supplies train is moving towards the castle under the protection of Albert de la Tour du Pin, count Guy d’Auvergne’s newphew.
On the right, Gilles de Tocy-Basernes and some serjeants of Bourbon are bypassing the village, excepting to intercept the supplies train.
The supplies train advances,
As the fight begins between the rearguard men-at-arms and the mercenaries.
The men-at-arms from Auvergne resist well
despite suffering some casualties.
The leading elements of the supplies train are close to the castle’s gate
Gilles de Tocy-Basernes does not manage to reach the convoy
The knight is charged by Albert de la Tour du Pin, lances clash, and Albert is out of action.
The head of the supplies train reaches the gate.
The remaining men-at-arms managed to slow down the attackers
The french reinforcements are arriving,
But the Auvergne’s men-at-arms are standing still !
Despite the arrival of Guy de Dampierre and Lambert Cadoc
The Auvergne’s party withdraws within the castle’s walls with the now safe supplies train.
