In the issue #3 of the french magazine Vae Victis Thématique, I wrote and article and a modification to LotOW about the Beast of the Gévaudan.

From 1764 to 1767, this beast killed more than 100 people (mostly children or women). Dragons from the regiment of Clermont-Prince were sent to kill it. Then a renowned wolf hunter, Mr d’Enneval arrived but did not succeed either. The king of France, Louis XV sent his own man, M. Antoine (King Arquebus handler) en 1765. After M. Antoine managed to killed a big wolf in late september. The villagers were happy though some of them said softly that it was no the beast.

The attacks started again in 1766 and finally in june 1767, Jean Chastel, an inhabitant of the village of Saugues decided to hunt the creature after the killing of his daughter-in-law. When Chastel met the beast, he shot it dead with a blessed bolt.

The rules allow you to play either the beast or a group (or groups) of hunters ( Noblemen party, Dragons or Villagers). You play the four scenarios randomly or as a campaign.

In order to balance the games, the "Beast" can select various special powers that turn it into a hellish opponent.
